The original power station was built in 1915. The new power station was built in 1964–1968 and it became operational in 1966. It consist of two units. The first unit is a 125 MW steam unit. The second unit is a 63 MW gas unit which includes two gas generators. It is used as a reserve unit for the Slovenian electric system.The Trbovlje Chimney of the power station, built in 1976, is the tallest flue-gas stack in Europe. The 360-metre (1,180 ft) high flue-gas stack was poured in 210 days, and required 11,866 cubic metres (419,000 cu ft) of concrete and 1,079 tons of reinforcing steel. A high chimney was required for the site to ensure that emissions were removed from the deep, narrow valley under all weather conditions.Sadly, in November 2014 it was announced that the power station is to be sent into liquidation.

It's really overwhelming, was passing by in a car and nearly broke my neck trying to see the top (yes, it was NOT a cabriolet:)). Saruman's tower is a pale shadow!

Here is where you find the highest chimney in Europe with a height of 360metres high.It's also got a great view of the surroundings.

Dojazd do tego miejsca wąską dróżką, na której co rusz, ruch jest kierowany sygnalizacją świetlną, gdyż w wielu miejscach droga jest za wąska dla dwóch pojazdów. Przy samym kominie nie ma miejsca by zatrzymać samochód, trzeba podjechać do wjazdu na zakład. Sam komin nie robi szczególnego wrażenia. Możliwe, że to przez to, że otoczony jest wysokimi wzgórzami i przez to nie wydaje się tak wysoki.
