Planinska jama

Največja vodna jama z dvoranami, jezeri, človeškimi ribicami, kapniki in z največjim sotočjem podzemnih rek. Planinska jama je dolga skoraj 7 kilometrov in velja za največjo vodno jamo v Sloveniji. Sestavljena je iz različnih dvoran, jezer in kapnikov. V njej živi kar 60 vrst vodnih živali in 40 vrst kopnih živali. Kot zanimivost - tukaj živi največja populacija človeške ribice v Sloveniji. Poleg tega predstavlja eno največjih sotočij podzemnih rek v Evropi. Okoli 500 metrov v jami se v reko Unico združita reka Rak (iz Rakovega Škocjana) in reka Pivka (iz Postojnske jame).Vstop v jamo je prost prvih 200 metrov, za naprej pa je ogled možen le z vodnikom po predhodni rezervaciji.Midva sva to izvedela (žal) prepozno, tako da se zagotovo še vrneva po nepozabno avanturo s čolnom!Priporočava svetilko, primerno obutev in topla oblačila.

We did the long boat tour with 3 friends. We really enjoyed it! It was a bit physically challenging since we had to row most of the time, carry the boat and climb a little but the experience was definetely worth it! (But do take the physical challenge into account if you're less fit). We saw an incredible amount of human fish, bats and cave insects and the tour guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable! We went very deep into the cave, and doing that for 5,5 hours with a relatively small group really gave a different (and nicer) experience than most other caves I've been to in Slovenia We also got an icecream and powerbar which was really nice. I thought it was really cheap (we payed about 60 euros per person) for the amazing time we had!

Največja vodna jama v Sloveniji . največje podzemno sotočje v Evropi Pivke in reke Rak , ki se združi v reko Unico in potem kot Ljubljanica.(Močilnik Vrhnika , dolina Retovlje Verd).Jama je dolga 7 km.Obiščemo jo lahko peš ali s čolnom.Planinsko polje je v tem času v pisanih barvah cvetlic.Tu raste Travniška morska čebulica .Slikovito kraško polje, v dolžino meri 6 km ,v širino 2 km.Polje je večkrat na leto poplavljeno.Planinsko polje je uvrščeno v evropsko omrežje varstvenih območjih Natura 2000.Južni del planinskega polja pa je od leta 1984 zavarovan kot krajinski park.

An absolute highlight!We (two persons) did the long tour with the boat. First it was a bit hard to get a reply from the guides team but just call them and agree on a time and date. Carlo, our guide, is a bit younger and is slowly but surely improving the booking, too. Maybe insist they write down your phone number...But once you have arrive at the cave (parking a bit higher then the entrance on the right side, sign) you will meet Carlo, get your suit, helmet and lamp and a bag if you want to bring a camera, some snacks and a bit of water. I recommend this as your adventure in the cave might well take 6h.You then enter the cave and after a first section of easy walking, already seeing some impressive dripstones you will arrive at your boat. Paddling in the huge cave in the dark on the perfectly calm water, seeing the many human fish and impressive dripstones in the dwarftland" is truly unique!But is getting even better once you arrive at the "Paradise" - it has it's name for a reason: the natural treasures fill the walls of the entire cave here and you will see the "Jellyfish"

My friends and I went to Planina Caves in Slovenia. Our guide Carlo, took us about 2km into the heart of the caves and gave us a very interesting summary of the history of parts of the caves. Also if the Olm, a Dragon-like Salamander which lives in these caves.I recommend booking in advance and taking the long tour with the kayaking inside the caves. Unfortunately we didn't know and we only booked the day before and our schedule was very tight. So we had to take the short tour.

Beautiful cave! There is a small parking lot nearby with toilets. The entrance to the first cave is free, but if you want to go deeper, you have to go with a guide.

Super jama, odlično za kratek popoldanski izlet. Blizu Ljubljane, hitra in dobra dostopnost po cesti.

Beautiful and mysterious place. You can see the Human fish if you are lucky. Tour with guide recommended.

Planinska jama je čudoviti naravni biser. V jami izvira reka Unica, ki veličastno zažubori, ko privre iz jame, še posebej po večjem deževjuko se spusti v rečno strugo in čez nekaj kilometrov izgine v kraško podzemlje in ponovno pride na plan kot eden od izvirov reke Ljubljanice.
