Vogar Viewpoint - Lake Bohinji

We wanted to go to Vogar viewpoint by hiking from Parkirišče Stara Fužina. The hike was supposed to be moderate but it was rather difficult and we could not do it. It is difficult to see on the attached pictures but this is very steep most of the time and we had to climb very often. It was too difficult and long that we actually gave up. Words of advice: be well equipped and mentally prepared. Also don't bring your kids!

About a 1 hour (little more if you make some stops along the way) ti this heart shaped bench with a view of the lake. Make sure to also look out on the way up for another viewpoint. Look out for the word spomenik" painted on a rock. About 15 meters in that direction is another viewpoint with perhaps better views and less people."

This is a unique place to visit in Slovenia, definitely recommended but it takes at least half a day just to get up there and down again, so I would recommend using one full day to experience it.You can drive almost all the way, then the last few km it is a hike.The view is absolutely unique.

Beautiful walk around the lake

Stunning views over the lake, and far less congested than any viewpoints at Bled. We went on a sunny day in mid April and were the only people on the whole hike.The path can be a bit slippy at parts due to leaf litter, and can be a bit steep at parts. We were able to hike just fine in trainers, but it wouldn't hurt to have trekking poles if you want to be a bit steadier on your feet. Nearer the top of the hill, it's not really a well-worn gradual path so much as a way up the hill designated by trail markers.

As 23 year old women, in a moderately fit state, this hike has been relatively challenging. The biggest mistake we made was to follow the trail (in the dotted green line) on Google Maps - do NOT do that, as it takes you off trail, up very steep hills among leaves and logs.Generally, the hike was rocky and sometimes slippery, through a forest with a very wide range of flowers and plants, pleasant scenery and atmosphere. It took us 2 hours to get to the top from Stara Fužina.There are 2 main view points along the way, the first being less known and pointed at by a stone along the way (I forgot the specific name). Shortly after, there will be a small village with beautiful local hunts, then a nice restaurant/cafe called Kosijev, perfect to stop by for a break.Immediately after is the most anticipated Vogar in all her glory!A very useful tip is that there are FREE SHUTTLE BUSES going back down towards Stara Fužina, from the point where the uphill trail becomes a concrete road. There are 3 departures a day, with the last one being at 5 or 5.30. For more information, either ask the staff of the cafe at the top or look out for signs.Anyway, this hike has been a spectacular adventure and we recommend it for teenagers and adults!

Razgledna točka se nahaja 5 min hoda od Kosijevega doma na Vogarju. Tam se nahaja tudi klopca iz katere lahko uživate v lepih razgledih. Kdor pride do Kosijevega doma, naj naredi še par korakov do te razgledne točke, ne bo mu žal.

Absolutely beautiful hike that takes you to a point with a breath-taking view over lake Bohinj. However, I recommend you do not follow the trail on google maps because it takes you off-trail. We did a good chunk of the hike following the maps trail and found it very challenging. Took us about 1.5 hours to reach the view-point (definitely took some breaks along the way). A useful point: there is a FREE shuttle that can take you down that operates a few times during the day. It is located about a 10-min walk from the view-point, ask the locals for help if you cannot find it.
